This was a fun project that took an unexpected turn in the development. The gallery owner, Joyce Parlapiano, had named it Accidental after the kind of note found in blues and Jazz music. It's also known as a 'blue' note.
First sketches were comprised of very clean lines and a visual pun, where the letters of the gallery appeared as notes on sheet music. Later, a framing detail was incorporated around the name, much like the hanging artwork would have frames. Finally, a marriage of the first logo with clean lines, and the second logo with the framing illustration was created, when the frame actually became some of the letters.
