Fictional event in Falmouth, Cornwall, with talks from Stefan Sagmeister.
TED Global were holding 12 lectures over 3 days in Falmouth. My brief was to design a book, containing lecturer biographies and transcripts from the conference. The main focus was dealing with layout and type but I also had to think about photography to compliment the design.
My concept for the photography was focused on Falmouth as a location, highlighting the different sea side environments. I used a paper boat and placed it in the surrounding areas to compliment the TED strapline, ideas worth spreading. The 3 images that I used for my book covers also differentiate the 3 days in Falmouth, broken down into the given sections, Localised, Nationalised and Globalised. I used 2 visual elements within the book to compliment the theme of the covers, a simplified paper boat shape and a wave to fill in some of the white space. The content was based on Stefan Sagmeister so I used individual letters to highlight his passion for typography.
