'Tea Party' aims to explore the
relationship between two genres while communicating the detail and elegance
associated with the over heading theme of a tea party.
I was interested in portraying the relationship between two
opposing genres of still life and portraiture and exploring how I could convey this in my chosen setting.
I wanted to show a vibrant, playful, elegant collection of cohesive images
reflecting attention to detail. I’ve taken away the traditional tea party ‘look’ and created a modern twist by
integrating stylised settings and younger models. The components that are
linked to traditional are given a fresh perspective by creating an
unconventional setting through use of styling and artistic choices. I wanted to
challenge the viewer’s perception of this traditional pastime.
