GT Bank - Raise Your Game

  • GT Bank - Raise Your Game
  • Challenge:
GT Bank are revolutionising banking in Nigeria. They asked us to create a TV ad which demonstrated this, and also tied in with their passion for football, Nigeria's national sport.

    Solution:
We decided to literally show how GT Bank was changing the game for Nigeria.
  • An orange hot air balloon lies on a grassy plain, slowly inflating. A solitary man in a Nigerian football kit gets in the basket.
  • It lifts off and sails serenely over breathtaking Nigerian vistas.
  • At the other end of the country, a balloon with a different strip floats above the teeming city of Lagos.
  • In the office blocks, in the streets, people across Nigeria point to the sky.
  • In the towns and the villages they look up in curiosity as balloons pass overhead, heading for an unknown destination.
  • An excited crowd surrounds a huge football balloon, screaming and shouting as they strain to keep it from flying off.
  • John Obi Mikel is the ref. He acknowledges the crowd, blows his whistle and the world’s biggest game of football kicks off!
  • We pan back to reveal to a stunning panoramic view of the game from above. It’s football on an enormous scale.
  • The camera zooms in closer to the action. Balloons from both teams fly into shot, competing to get to the ball.
  • The players in the baskets shout instructions at each other, get to the ball, mark your man, where’s the support? The fans below scream advice, urging them on.
  • An orange balloon gets hold of the ball, pushes it past an opposition balloon, and swoops around them to collect it.
  • He fires it into the top corner. Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal!!!
The orange team celebrates, the players bring their balloons together, jump into each other’s baskets, it’s pandemonium.
  • Back on the ground the crowds go wild across Nigeria. Flags wave, mothers dance with their children, grown men punch the air with joy.
