Inspired by an apple note pad that could fold out like a 3D apple we decided make a folder with the effect, but instead of the same empty pages the note pad had, ours had to have different content on most pages. We tried a lot of different local printers and we event went to the chinese printer who made the note pads, but no one wanted to do it, couldn’t do it and several printers told us that we couldn’t afford it?
Then we invited our long time friend and print broker Ebbe from Grafisk Pluz for a talk on how to solve this problem and lucky for us, Ebbe made this HIS problem and went out and found someone to pull this off for us. They had to figure out the right glue, tweek the cutout until we was happy with the apple shape and find the right type of paper that would easily fold out into the 3D apple.
Then we started designing the apple 3D folder and we went from a eastern european stylish black graphic to the fresh and colourful feeling that we ended up with. We wanted to make the background on every page to be the inside of an actual apple and when you look at the 3D apple from one side its only apple but from the other side you get the pages with text and images as well
The final finish on the apple brochure had to be made by hand as we also glued a wooden stick in the middle of the apple as it folds out.
