THREADLIFE MOBILE APP CONCEPT

THE BRIEF

Threadlife fresh its v1 launch asked me to come in and help them smooth out the workflow of their app.  Based on the learnings of that project, I took it upon myself to propose an entirely new structure that would encourage engagement and inteaction.
THE IDEA

The idea was simple.  Create an app UI that was as spartan as possible, only revealing what had to be revealed.  If we could save space by removing branding, we went ahead and did it. The UI was meant to hover over the content vs frame it
THE MAIN SCREEN
While the version of Threadlife at the time treated Stitches (videos) and events like comments and liking with the same weight in the main timeline, we opted to prioritize the content and integrate those events (liking, commenting, sharing and even new stiches) within an activity bar.  Combined with notifications, it would free up the main timeline to let the ocntent shine.  The exception was to show the last 3 comments on a particular stitch to encourage engagegement and let people that there was life on this app.
In the wire, we explore a spartan approach, removing branding except for the home button.  We wanted a coffee table book feel, something rich, where the content would be king.
THE STITCH DETAIL SCREEN
With the detail video, we wanted to continue our spartan appraoch and rely on interactions that users have leaned (double tapping to like, context tray in the new twitter app) instead of surfacing as many options as possible.  We also introduced the idea of contextual navigation (next to the home button) smaller to not interfere but help the user in navigating back of customizing the current view (custom sorts)
While not totally complete (it's a concept), this along with the home screen provide a good direction of where we think apps should be headed to let the content be king and thus where Threadlife should be headed.
