TABASCO PACKAGING REDESIGN

- Before I felt the design of the product was too routine, therefore I wanted to take the opportunity to do something which really distinguishes it’s self from its competitors. Right away you can see the contrast the white bottle has against the other major brands competing in the hot sauce market. This new packaging design emphasizes brand elements that the consumer is used to. Elements such as the bright red cap, as well as the diamond shape the original TABASCO logo was composed with in. But this diamond is removed from the surface of the packaging, and is seen in the wooden tag which hangs around the neck of the bottle. The new physical diamond tag demands the comsumers attention because of its contrasting texture to the rest of the bottle, thus providing the consumer with a more intimate experience with the diamond of TABASCO. Quality.
The new design also includes a flame motif on the bottle. The processing of the glass bottle is sand blasting then paint. During the process the flame is masked out of the glass to provide the viewer with natural TABASCO RED color of the sauce into the design. This also enhances the consumers ability to see the “Heat” of the product.
Through out the design there is also this element of natural, wood, feeling color. This comes from the process of making the TABASCO sauce. After the spicy mixture is concocted, it matures in white oak barrels for 3 years, thus the inclusion of wood coloring and the white oak tag.
