Syria/Nation Branding

 MFA Project
There will be focus on the richness of history
Syria has, which shall reflect its vibrant future.

Syria has a strong sense of culture, a large
background of historical events and a fresh modernism
that could attract many tourists and investors to the area.

Nation branding is an important concept in today’s world.
Globalization means that countries compete with each other for
the attention, respect and trust of investors, tourists, consumers,
donors, immigrants, the media, and the governments of other nations.

A powerful and positive nation brand
provides a crucial competitive advantage.

It is essential for countries to understand how they are
seen by various publics around the world.

Syria is a country with little publicity. Within the last
decade it has slowly become a more popular tourist attraction,
but has no universal brand or signature to promote its positive aspects.
When I started brainstorming, I thought about all the foreigners I met in Lebanon in my university years. Whenever I told someone I'm Syrian, they go on and on about how fond of Syrian designs they are, how much they would love to buy the beautiful Damascene lanterns and crafted pieces of art.

Since Syria has a cradle of civilization, it's hard to encapsulate 8000 years in one visual, as it is not an abstract painting. Therefore, I had in mind that when people think Syria they think Arabesque designs.

My insight is the Syrian people, because of their patriotism and authenticity. There's a need to integrate them in the logo
to show them that this brand is them and for them, and without their unity this brand would not reach anywhere.

Here came the idea of creating a modern Arabesque shape that's made out of men and women drawn in a stylized way. Vivid colors to represent the vibrant and futuristic Syria that this brand aims to reach.
Burgundy is a royal color, and Syria has always been the center of attention geographically, commercially, naturally and other things. Besides, Syrian cities have always been great locations in many civilizations.
Blue Green represents the clear sky and beautiful water in Syria. Besides, it's the color of the traditional glass which they make in Damascus.
Beige is the color of the stones of the several archeological sights in Syria that are internationally famous.
The three colors together are vivid, welcoming and traditional.
This is the corporate brochure. It mainly shows Syria in 2020. Projects in progress, blueprints, case studies and it invites investors to be part of the plan.
Lenticular Ad! You look at it from one side, it says 'Hadaratouha'  in Black and white. In the middle it becomes blurry and it shows B&W half and a colored half and it says the whole signature. You walk to the other side, you see it colored and it says 'Moustakbalouha'.
This is the animatics for the Tourism TVC.
These airport screens are all over the place to give the arriving people an idea about what they will witness in Syria. The atmosphere, the food, the sights, the lifestyle and so on.
