Sylvia Park is the largest mixed-use project to be undertaken in New Zealand. NH Architecture, in joint venture with local New Zealand Architects Jasmax, began this project in 2003.
Situated on the urban edge of Auckland and accessed by a number of major arterial roads, the project represents a new generation of urban redevelopment. The single purpose shopping mall has been replaced with a concept based on integration and connectivity, and the masterplan responds to the need to bring educational, commercial, retail and public facilities into a holistic model of urban design.
The Southern precinct brings together a range of homeware and lifestyle venues in a series of robust architectural forms. The Fashion Pavilion captures the style of contemporary design and culture, and the entertainment precinct is activated both day and night by a series of interconnecting public spaces. Finally, the creative mixed-use zone ensures a strong daily population on the site.
