Sustainable Packaging

  • Have a cup of Joe (& Sarah).
Sustainable restaurant carry-out packaging and rebranding.
  • J&S Coffee is a small coffee shop located in Lawrence, Kansas. For a project that was to redesign the carry-out box for a restaurant, I chose this small little coffee shop that I liked to go study at. It was far enough away from campus that it wasn't chalk full of students. I also rebranded J&S Coffee. J&S stands for Joe and Sarah so I wanted to include 'Joe' in 'cup of joe'. So from there it became "have a cup of Joe & Sarah". I redesigned the coffee carriers from the bulky pulp carriers to a flat carrier that is perforated with circles to place your coffee in. They take up less room in stocking and transporting since they are flat. Once you punch out the perforated circles, they can then be reused as coasters. The carriers also have an odd shape to them which is purposeful in the fact that it helps each of the coffee carriers fit together on the press sheet so that there is less waste.
