STUDIO HELDERGROEN
Multifunctional studio inDroste silo Haarlem
On a weekday morning, the ground floor of the Droste silo is empty... At nine o’ clock the big tableswith computers slowly descend. A freshnew day begins!
At the end of the daythe workstations disappear back into the ceiling. The space is ready for anotherpurpose: a lecture, a dinner, a party, apromotion of a new product, an exhibition or an evening Yoga class ... StudioHeldergroen is in our view the example to think about the possibilities forother buildings of dual use of (mostly empty) office space...

Three tables can be hoisted individually, whichmakes sure the space can be used flexible in daytimes and anticipates onseveral occupancies. The most offices are used only 40 hours a week, but in theinterior of studio Heldergroen the possibilities for evening and weekend activitiesare considerably increased: Tables being pulled up in the evening creates thepossibility to let out the space for all kinds of different inspiringinitiatives: from trading lady clothing to biological wine tasting. Besides thenew possible activities, the hoisted tables also provides the ideal burglingprevention.
