Project: Strong Roots

Authorship: David Dias

Client: Odd School

Software: 3DS Max, Vray and Photoshop

Summary: Project created to show how to quickly make a tree, for my students at Odd School, using different techniques and tools, like Object Paint, Viewport Canvas, Voronoi Fracture, MassFX, Hair and Fur, SSS and Texture Baking. I didn't want to use Sculpting programs like Zbrush (which in real environment may not be available), so the part that gave more work was the creation of textures. My objective was to create a tree that could survive a closeup and while maintaining a parametric control in some aspects such as the leaves and branches, but also without losing the aesthetic component of how we wanted to shape the tree.
