The Stockholm City Library addition is a complex spatial aggregate exploring the possibilities of combinatorial design. The project is based on some of Thom Mayne's core design principles and uses processes such as a combination of linear and three dimensional systems to inform spatial additions and subtractions. In plan, the library sets itself as a public figure and establishes a public courtyard in conjunction with the existing library. In section, there are larger, comfortable reading spaces and smaller storage areas intersects each other, creating complex and unique spatial conditions.
