Among them is a boot belonging to Captain Scott on loanfrom the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge, trainers belonging to SirRanulph Fiennes and boots belonging to Northamptonshire journalist, warcorrespondent and travel writer Tim Butcher.

Artist Clare Abbatt said: "This exhibition was inspired by a project I worked on in 2009 when I met eight Indian women who now live in Northampton. Their stories prompted my interest in journeys, which has culminated in this exhibition. Step into my Shoes looks both at exceptional journeys on foot and those we make every day which can still have great significance in our lives."
