Communication Design 2nd Year 2013 - Package Design: Project 1: Create a luxury candle
Our first project in Package Design at RMIT University was to design a luxury candle that differentiates from the tree competitors Diptyqe, Cire Trudon and Frederic Malle. The glass vessel was bought at Country Road in Melbourne and it is filled with bleached beeswax.
The name Stella Borealis is inspired by the Polar star (Stella Polaris) and the Northen lights (Aurora Borealis). Translated from latin, Stella means "star" and Borealis means "north".
The scent is ment to capture the Norwegian wild with a mix of grass, wood and various wildflowers. The glass is engraved with the logo and symbol, and the handmade box has a texture on it that reminds of snow. The candle will burn for up to 100 hours.
