Stamford Cellars is a company that handles the storage and safeguarding of rare vintage wine collections which are known to a niche market of collectors and investment houses as “liquid gold”. The company not only provides the most technologically advanced wine storage facility, but also
a comprehensive range of integrate services dealing with logistics, insurance and trading. 
 
The task at hand was to communicate the sophistication and exclusiveness of the business to
potential clients. The company had to also be portrayed as the prime choice for the safekeeping
of “liquid gold” in order to assure their clients have a peace of mind. As such, a coat of arms consisting of two griffins guarding a vintage wine bottle was conceptualized and developed.
The griffin was chosen primarily because they were known to be vigilant guardians of treasure
and priceless possessions belonging to kings, nobleman and aristocrats alike. Silver was chosen
as the griffin’s colour in order to bestow an element of modernity while retaining the inherent
aura of class and tradition normally associated with coat of arms.
 
  
The production of the name card deserves a special mention as three special print finishing
techniques were used together. A silver foil is first applied followed by a layer of printing in 
green and grey. 3D embossing is then used to make the little details and texture more apparent.
