Spin was my first editorial job. I had just moved to NYC and had always wanted to work on a publication and due to a fantastic, right place right time coincidence landed the #2 spot. It was a great experience, eccentric owner, slightly crazy staff and my AD Bruce Ramsay was an excellent mentor. The EIC Craig Marks had a great gift for finding really fascinating and interesting non-music features along with the solid alternative music coverage Spin was famous for so we had many opportunities to do more with less. I was also lucky enough to work with a really talented photo editor Nancy Leopardi. Nothing really fazed her (even Oasis running rampant from studio to studio firing off fire extinguishers) and she always found amazing new talent.
