Speedo's Art of the Cap

Speedo’s Art of the Cap brings swimming and art together to create positive change in the world. This year, Speedo USA paired five Olympic swimmers including Nathan Adrian, Dana Wollmer, Gullen Jones, Ryan Lochte and Natalie Coughlin with five inspiring artists to create limited-edition swim caps in support of five worthy causes.

Commissioned by Hello Design from Los Angeles, I was asked to illustrate Natalie Coughlin’s cap, the most decorated female athlete at both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Her resume boasts 3 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals. The idea of my artwork was inspired by Natalie’s love for the ocean and natural environments, so I created a design that features my recognizable swirly shapes forming into a wave.

Art of the Cap is a reminder that even when you are moving forward, never forget to give back. All proceeds from the caps benefit Right to Play, a global organization that uses sports to educate and empower youth in disadvantaged communities.
