Spatial Research: Public Library Redesign

This project involved a creative spatial design and patron behavior analysis of a public library in San Mateo, CA in 2010, Q1. The objective was to create meaningful, actionable design recommendations on the basis of a scientific study that analyzes the functional relationship between the library space and offered customer services.
Current library center space before the redesign.
Computational visibility analysis of the library space using UCL's Space Syntax DepthMap software.
Behavioral route analysis results of how library patrons actually utilize spaces based on their visitation patterns. Data was collected via video analysis and exit-surveys.
Simple, actionable design recommendations based on the functional spaces research data.
