Sony Walkman Concept

A friend of mine and I were discussing how amazing old compact cassette Walkmans looked from the 80's and 90's, and how is was a shame the new MP3 Walkmans looked so uninspired in comparison. This discussion led to me tinkering with the idea of using the aluminum casing of a MP3 player as a capacitive touch screen, and the process of drilling small holes with a laser into the surface; allowing a monochrome "screen" to show through. This process is used on the sleep lights of Macbooks, which makes the light appear to glow right out of the metal.

The design of the actual chassis of the device is based on a AM/FM Walkman from the early 90s.
