  • ONCE AGAIN I FAIL TO LIVE UP TO MY ADVANCE PUBLICITY. New work by David Fullarton, Hang Art, 556 Sutter Street San Francisco, CA 94102, April 2nd- 30th 2009.

Once Again I Fail To Live Up To My Advance Publicity presents both paintings and works on paper. The artist keeps notebooks filled with scraps of paper, ticket stubs, and other ephemeral that he incorporates into his artwork. These elements represent the often overlooked stuff of daily life, which is the root of Fullartons inspiration. He sees beauty in the ways people manage to find joy and meaning in the minutiae. The artist paints vibrantly complex canvases whose elements jumble and mix together in a facsimile of modern life.  Once Again I Fail To Live Up To My Advance Publicity will include seven paintings alongside small paper pieces taken from the artists sketchbooks. These sketches are are sometimes the genesis of the finished paintings, but are more often stand-alone vignettes featuring forlorn characters who find themselves in compromising situations.
