- Code intend to provoke debate about the ethics and social responsibility of a designer in todays commercial scenario which is focus on the unethical behaviours and commercial practice functioning in advertising design industry of Saudi Arabia. This project is a response to both the general absence of critical approaches to the study of graphic design and the dominance commercial practice of advertising.
Through the analysis of the problem and the identification of a target audience, I refined my brief and developed a clear set of objectives. My next stage was to how to communicate with the people of Saudi Arabia. To develop a brand in a form of manifesto, I decided to create a design community which will raise awareness about social responsibility and ethics. Being considerate about my target audience, the final outcomes of this project took the form of books, posters and a website.
My overall main concern was to come up with a sustainable and useful design solution. The format of my designs intentionally been kept very simple and meaningful nor tested or experimented on materials and colors mainly because I want to keep it uncomplicated, more functional and less aesthetic and to be persuasive with a great impact. Initially, its been decided that my outcome will be black and white and print on recycle paper.
