The story was tested over ten years in primary schools as the illustrator Bryan Pollard took his after school drawing classes for children aging from 5 to 11 years old. The story was also popular with grand parents and all ages enjoyed Peters sense of fun with the traditional story. The book was in the top 20 books in Paper Plus Tauranga and sat at number 5 in the best sellers list for the first six months of the launch. It is now in 75% of New Zealand Primary schools. Published by Exceptional Books New Zealand.
These are water color illustrations and the concept line work and composition layout were worked on ten years before the book was published giving the author and Illustrator time to test how children would respond to the style and treatment of the story.
