Sketchbook Drawings

  • Sketchbook Drawings
    samples from my design sketchbook
  • In my graphic design classes, instead of doing a ton of reading from textbooks, we were assigned to research different designers' styles and works. Then, we were required to draw in their particular style while including random topics, such as the Mayan calendar or European holidays. Here are a few of my favorites.
  • Outside of a composition/memo pad

In the style of Ann Willoughby, incorporate Entomology, Music Instrument, and continuous line (the flower and butterfly is one line). Also include a large hand-drawn illustration and title, a fact about the designer, and a question about graphic design.
  • Incorporate Swimming (2nd layer: photo of Michael Phelps), the Last Supper, and transparency in the style of Fred Woodward. Also include a large hand-drawn illustration and title, a dingbat or spot illustration, a fact about the designer, and a question about graphic design.
  • In the style of Margo Chase, incorproate Philosophy (used her design philosophy), Bathroom, and embossment (toilets, woman, sink, man, toothpaste). Also include a large hand-drawn illustration and title, a dingbat or spot illustration, a fact about the designer, and a question about graphic design.
  • Incorproate Science, Nigeria, and Recycled Texture (drawn on scrap cardboard and watercolor paper) in the style of Neville Brody. Also include a large hand-drawn illustration and title, a dingbat or spot illustration, a fact about the designer, and a question about graphic design.
