Product Design - Sixaday Productivity App

Project Overview

Sixaday is an experimental project we did last year to test how people react to overly limited funcionality as well as user interface in a productivity app.

The method works on paper as Charles Schwab's productivity coach proved it with his training for managers but we wanted to see if this is something you could use every day. Like a kanban board with one column.
Drag and drop tasks to the bottom to get them done.
The Process

As an experimental team of 2 we implemented what we learned at Prezi, concentrated on the MVP and to make the first version of the app as simple as possible to start user testing.

I created high level concepts, millions of wireframes, prototypes and when it was simple enough we moved to production, web design and released the app in October 2013.
The Result

The app was downloaded around 500 times, we made a thorough analysis of the data and decided to discontinue the project lacking the support for business leader and a marketing professional.

The 2 most significant issues were if you keep adding things you were postponing for weeks, you'll eventually end up having a list of all the things you hate to do for some reason.

The other downside is what the problem with kanban is too is it takes practice. You need 2 weeks to adjust your task sizes and to better assess them the day before.

Despite of the low (no marketing, no pr) download number the users keep using the tool.
