Sip the Sky

  • Sip the Sky
    Documenting the ever changing sky
  • The constructs of this problem was to document the sky on five different days. Another attribute to this was that each documentation needed to be mailed to my professor before proceeding onto the next day. To me, the sky is most appreciate-able in the places I feel most relaxed. This would be the green spaces and parks that are intertwined amongst my urban surroundings. I chose to document these places in conjunction with the sky, showing the natural places of Providence, RI as well as the neighborhoods beyond the city.
  • Like alcohol having effect on the mind, I chose to portray the sky as something similar. changing the mood of the person after drinking the "sky". On the outer flaps of the six-pack box, the neighborhoods where the sky was documented is printed.
  • The interior of the box shows a map. Only giving view to the waterways and green spaces, disregarding anything manmade like streets or buildings.
  • On display at the Waterman building of RISD.
  • Another portion to the problem was to make preliminary color studies before making further documentation. the label on this bottle marks the location, date, time, and direction of each color study.
