A forsa survey of 2008 found out that most Germans don't actually see any importance and sexappeal in earning their money as a plumber, mechanic, painter, boatbuilder or carpenter.
With 4.8 mill people working in these handicraft businesses and half a million young trainees this is rather not understandable. Especially young people do not really recognize that those companies make a lot of bucks, actually about 500 billion Euros every year. Teenagers often understand these jobs as being old fashioned and not up-to date.
In order to change this bad image the German Chamber of Handicrafts started an exciting campaign. This campaign runs for five years and should change public opinion of handicrafts in general, motivate young people to start an apprenticeship there and encourage traders to be proud of their jobs. While my internship and trainee programm at "
Scholz&Friends Berlin", i worked inter alia one year on this client.
Now you guys can finally see some of the results.
