Assignment was to create a Promotional Poster and Postcard Design for the Siggraph 2012 Conference. I approached this project by researching Siggraph and by doing so, discovered that it is a representation of technical and creative people from all over the world, symbolizing extensive research, science, art, animation, gaming, interactivity, education and the World Wide Web.
My Concept: To design an illustration portraying the creativity of a woman who signifies the very meaning of Siggraph. This illustration is to convey the concept of science, technology and digital art. Instead of designing realistically utilizing photographs, I have decided to design symbolically utilizing graphical elements as digital illustrations. The background will contain reference to technology, science and digital art, while the primary focal point will be of a woman, much like myself. The woman will signify creativity as she expresses herself through the whispered words: I am Art, I am Science, I am Siggraph 2012. Being a graphic artist…I wanted this piece to not only depict science, technology and digital art, but also incorporate a bit of my own personal aesthetic as a digital artist.
