  • Shift Change
micro-brewery steam ale branding and packaging
  • Local 59 is a micro brewery based out of Nekoosa, Wisconsin and takes it name from the local paper millworker’s union. Nekoosa is a hard-hat wearing town whose bars serve up cold and tasty beer to sift workers after a long sift in the mill. Shift Change Steam Ale is Local 59’s premier beer and is made using a unique steam brewing process.

Shift Change’s logo features a steam whistle and cloud of steam, symbolizing the ubiquitous shift change whistle of American industry as well as the whistle of the Nekoosa Mill. The workman theme is carried though with the steel lunch pail motif of the six-pack carrier, complete with latches, hinges, and a working retractable handle. The carrier enclosed design protects the beer from light as well as helping keep it cool during transport.

I created all conceptual and printed elements of Shift Change, to include the Local 59 logo.
