Fury is a World War 2 drama starring Brad Pitt that follows the fortunes of the crew of a Sherman tank during the last months of the conflict.
I was commissioned to scan the entirety, interior and exterior, of a working Sherman M4 "Easy Eight" that is housed at the National Tank Museum at Bovington, Dorset, UK.
Scanning took two 5 hour sessions to complete using a combination of LIDAR and prjected light scanning, with a further week for data processing and build.
The data was provided not for the VFX department but for the Art department for use in their design of models of the tank that were more conducive to filming - hence the rather 'rough and ready'/unfinished state of the scans. It's possible that remodelled versions of the data were used for CG/VFX but I've no confirmation of this - it would seem a shame if not!
