The 2010 BP oil spill destroyed an entire underwater ecosystem. This forced a lot of large predators to change their migratory routes due to the vast contamination. The destruction of their environments and the annihilation of their food sources forced sharks to inch closer to the beaches where innevitably their contact with humans created a threat for them as well. This only adds to the fact that many of their natural nurseries were destroyed dwingling the numbers of future generations even further.
This illustration was a sad tribute to an incredible species that is facing the threat of extinction due to it's unpopular reputation as a predator.
