Seamus Excavation was a brand and website development project. The project went through a fair amount of revisions, but with some luck of the irish, a final look was crafted that the client could really dig.
The process started with the logo as it often does. It was known from the start that Seamus was to have an irish flair, so shamrocks figured into almost every comp. Another idea was to include shovels in some form to represent their chosen field. It was originally thought a burly irish foreman could act as a sort of mascot (evident in the comps above), but that idea was abandoned as it got in the way of the intended goal.
This represents a fairly advanced comp the client had desired based off our submitted options. Inspired by the gaelic lettering and weaving design of Irish art, this version had a custom type treatment, along with a shamrock "S" logo. Originally happy with this version, the client ended up changing their mind and wanted a harder edged version.
So we land on the final version. Using the same idea of the gaelic weaving, we incorporated our shovel head idea while still maintaining the shamrock "S". The final seal is more robust and better reflective of an excavating company.
Redoing the logo also allowed for a changing of the type treatment. Using our gaelic "S" we were able to create an entirely new font for the type treatment which we named "Lugnut".  We then paired it with an exsisting font called Luggage which was used for other purposes.
