Sculpture Park and View Tower Lemberk

The View Tower

The View Tower is placed among the trees on the highest point of the hill. It is high enough to exceed the tree tops and offer a characteristic view of the Lužické hory towards Liberec in the north of Czech Republic. The view is not only from the top, visitors can observe a surroundings during a climb up the spiral staircase. With the view tower’s innovative facade consisting of turn-able wooden panels it is possible to look out from the each point of the way upwards. It takes its inspiration from the leaves flickering in the forest. The wind plays with the whole outer surface of the view tower like with those leaves. When wind blows softly the facade is waving as a water level and when it blows stronger it spins them fast. The view tower is changing its facade constantly according to the weather conditions.

The view tower’s structure central column on which are cantilevered stairs. The cladding formed by veneer panels (200 x 200 mm) rotating on cords hanged on the top landing and attached to the other landings of the tower.
