- Save girl child
Award winning concept for a contest 'UNFPA-Laadli National Creative Excellence Awards'
Background: In India traditions and rituals outline the existence of the girl child. Amidst uproars of gender equality and law enforcement, female infants are still found dumped in trash, by the dozens, while unborn fetuses continue to be sniffed in the womb. Wrought with discrimination and prejudiced by rituals, Indian society has dealt the girl child a rough hand, starting even before birth, till the dark of life.Aim:Population First launched the UNFPA-Laadli National Creative Excellence Awards for Social Change, with the aim of creating a pool of promotional material that could be used for the campaign against sex selection. A need for quality promotional and communication materia Correcting the sex ratio through the involvement of all stakeholders supporting the cause and creating social consciousness to the issue collectively. Why considered for award? The artwork showcases a mix of two extremes - innocence and cruelty. It is visually compelling for a reader to see. The reader will either spot the cruel faces first or read the copy. And will be led to do the latter. The copy by creating suspense in the first half doesn’t lose the reader till the entire message is given. The extremes will ignite the sense of concern in the reader which will lead them into action when they come across any such incident.
