Savannah Poster Biennale

  • Savannah Poster Biennale
    (bi-IN-ee-ul)
  • The Savannah Poster Biennale (Bienniel) will begin in 2012, featuring poster exhibitions and competitions for students and professionals, culminating in historic Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia. Although organized by SCAD, it is not an education-only festival. Organized by SCAD faculty members John Waters, Jason Frazier and Jorge Montero, I was asked to create a visual system for advertisement, branding, and event planning.

My mark is a hybrid of a poster and an eye, done in a Plakastil/Modern/Saul Bass style, laid over the basic print palette of CMYK. It soon became a character all its own, and promotes witty and subtle copy. The posters are designed to be displayed at weekly intervals before and during the Biennale, and could easily become collectors' items. I also created a basic website layout and branding system for the festival.
  • This poster is the (ahem) poster-child for the festival, and is intended to be used throughout the entire festival, mostly for the purpose of image recognition.
  • Week 2
  • Week 3
  • Week 5, the week of the festival
  • Week 5, intended for entrances, exits, and gates of the festival
  • letterhead, business cards, tee shirt, and hint of poster
  • Letterhead, poster, business cards, tee shirt, and pamphlet/map.
  • Website, Home page
  • Website, Gallery (scrolled down)
  • Every souvenir item, including bookmarks, award certificates, and take-home posters have the eye flipped upside down, with a tagline beginning with "I." (Award certificates say "I won.")
