Satori

Satori consists in a serie of 22 Abstract Close-ups or Macro-Photos of Wet details of Abstract Paintings.

I used to take this kind of pictures as an "
work-in-progress" registration process, but never as serious as work itself, but i always loved the results. In 2010 the music band "Tantra" asked for the Artwork for their new CD "Satori". I listened to their work for 2 weeks to incorporate their sounds to my system and created a serie of 5 Paintings, but thinking than a Painting could be a little "Static" for an artwork design i decided to bring a good camera to my studio and convert that "Registration" in real pieces of work changing the approach to them. Under the work process i ended with a "Take 1" with a selection of 37 pictures, and a "Take 2" with 32 of them. The main difference was in the color palette as the paintings for the first photosesion differed from the one`s i used in the second one. With 69 photos in total we started to work in the selection of wich will be part of their album, and Emiliano Montani applied them to the Packaging of the CD.
For a period of time the rest of the pictures ended as a secret and din`t came out to he public. In February, and after working on the "30/109" video-art, i decided to hold a solo exhibition on "La Normandina" with will showcase 4 paintings used during the creation of "Satori" and "30/109", the "30/109" video-art mounted as a video-instalation, and a final selection of "Satori" which consisted in 22 photos that i selected for the show. The exhibition was called "Satori + 30/109", and that final selection of the best and printable photos is was today is know as "Satori".
