OPPORTUNITY
Develop a new packaging system for a current package design that is dysfunctional and aesthetically displeasing.
SOLUTION
I chose to provide clementines with an improved packaging system. My main objective in the redesign was to improve transport, while still providing breathability and protection for the fruit. The key to my solution is the compact, hexagonal shape. It is sturdy, protects the product, and stacks with ease. The oblong cutouts work in conjunction with the unique shape. They provide the clementines with air, while simultaneously functioning as handles.
The name “Sanose” is created from the prefix san-, meaning health and the suffix -ose, meaning sugar.
