The piece Sangria is an exploration of drawing, vector graphics and layout design. The study began with hand sketched drawings of a wine glass. Paying close attention to the way the light played on the glass creating shadows and highlights, allowed me to create a sketch to render as a vector in Illustrator.

I made the decision to use the sketch I did for a number of reasons. It had a personality that to me represented the fruity flavors of the drink sangria. It also had the most interesting highlights and shadow shapes. In making the posters, I wanted to highlight the beauty and shapes within the glass. In doing so I used the glass blown up large as a abstraction as well as the cup at a recognizable size. Color, type size, and composition all became
important factors in the final three posters. Read Less
