Sal! Mobile App
Discover restaurants, make reservations, get deals and post reviews.
This mobile app was developed for the Sal! brand in 2012-2013 and is available for iPhone and Android. Sal! is a brand dedicated to the food, restaurant and entertainment industry in Puerto Rico www.sal.pr.
The app provides a useful and fun experience for people searching for restaurants, and takes advantage of maps and geolocation in smartphones.
The design provides menus, filters and icons that repeat throughout the sections and establish a design language also used in the website.
A menu introduces the sections: Restaurantes {where to eat}, Reserva {make reservations}, Ofertas {deals}, Eventos {things to do}, Mis Favoritos {favorites}
and a Tip Calculator. Users can also share lists of restaurants, make reviews and ratings, make reservations and get deals.
RESTAURANT SEARCH
A listing of the nearest restaurants becomes available once the user taps Where to Eat.
Furhter searches can filter the data by food type, atmosphere, cost, rating and map location.
LIST
The List shows the restaurant name, rating, cost, type of food, location and distance from current location. Icons on the right side appear on restaurants that offer deals and are available for reservation through the app.
LISTING FUNCTIONS
The List provides quick access to features by swiping left and right.
Functions like Add to Favorite, Share the listing, Check In and Add to List are on right swipe.
On left swipe the user can see the detail of the deal the restaurant is offering.
A search box at the top opens as a bigger search area with results.
NAVIGATION
Navigation within the app is done by the two ribbon on the top area. The left ribbon takes you back to the main menu. The right ribbon opens the options to see your account, favoites, reservations, check-ins, access the information area as well as log out.
RESTAURANT DETAIL
The Restaurant Detail provides information such as address, type of food, rating, operation hours, as well as buttons for direct access to reservation and calling. A photo gallery opens once the picture is tapped. The user can also go to the rating and comment area, as well as checking in and sharing the restaurant page.
RESERVATION
The Reservation menu allows you to select a date, hour and amount of people in your party and search for availability in restaurants. The search results are listed and once a restaurant is chosen, the user receives a confirmation via email. The reservation detail is in turn sent to the chosen restaurant.
The What to Do section allows you to search for events by calendar dates, type of events, location, cost and map.
OTHER FEATURES
The Tip Calculator is a quick tool for the end of the night that can help calculate tipping by more than one person. The Restaurant Listing makes lists of restaurants within a search that can be shared via email or text.
