Give us this day our daily beast

"..At length, they become our own portrait because behind all these eyes, mouths and hides, we find ourselves. There will always be, in this collection of symbolic-images, one image in particular in which we can recognise ourselves, the moment in time that we are living, the questions closest to our hearts.

But that image, so singular and personal in its effect, draws its strength from being part of the whole collection. Even if we were to hang one of these pictures on a wall at home, separate from the rest, each time we looked at it we would have before our eyes all the others because they are, as was said before, already there, inside us. Besides, you never really hang a painting just on the wall, you hang it in your soul..."
