SPATIAL TOY FOR CHILDREN / 06.2007

I have designed this toy, thinking about unsearchable imagination of a child. I wanted to create something original, something that children would want to play with forever. I was inspired by a grass. Referring to the movement of its stalks, I wanted to move child's imagination. And that is how I have created a form that is in stagnation until the child puts its parts into motion. Then, the toy changes as the child shapes it. The child becomes a wizard and begins to tell his/her own story.
So, the impact on the child's imagination and its stimulation was one of my main goals.
Moreover, I wanted children to be able to learn new shapes and build forms during playing. The project introduces also the function of practicing mobility of a child, as well as, the orientation in space and reflex. Another assumption was children’s integration during playing. Installation of multiple modules encourages group playing, which can be an excellent substrate for the integration of the group.
When it comes to technical issues - the basic elements are wooden verticals, on which triangular, rotating modules in three colors are placed. The verticals are in three different heights, refer to poses that children are taking at playing: jump, run and crouch. Every three risers are installed in the corners of an equilateral triangle, and the distance between them is 80cm. The distance is a result of analysis of the child’s behavior at the aged of 4-6 years during playing, taking into consideration safety aspects.
