Located along the shore of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, WI, the Skinboat school provides a quiet and secluded retreat for students learning to build and ride their own skin-on-frame kayak. Wedged deep into the shore line hills, visitors first descend the large stone staircase that lowers them into the earth before releasing them at the lakes shoreline. The building itself opens itself up to the east, taking in the rising sun and beautiful lake views. The east wall utilizes NanaWall technology and can open up to allow construction classes to occur out on the large wooden dock. From here students can place their final pieces right into the cool waters of Lake Michigan.
