SIM - RMIT Student Council Work
4PAGE

My very first project when I first joined the Student Council, as the layout designer.
"So you think you can eat?" Official Poster

Poster designed for Student Council's food eating competition, the idea came from Wild West's "Wanted: Dead or Alive" flyers.

"So you think you can eat?" Poster Concept 2
Concept poster for the same event, but I felt it's too much of a Fast Food promotion poster rather than a food eating competition poster.
 Student Council Recruitment July 2010

Recruitment Poster for July Intake of 2010. Don't really like this one very much. Was going for the comic book content look. Doesn't look as nice here, but when it was printed out in A1 size, it looks pretty good due to the matte surface.

"Carnival At Annex" Official Poster

Initially thought we were to held the carnival at the old SIM building and was going with the theme of "Old School fun and games". Turned out we could do it at SIM's newly opened building, but we decided to keep the theme, and thus this poster.
SIM - RMIT Orientation 2010 Commercial/Promo

This is the very first video I did for Student Council, I loved this video because: 1.) I have a great team to work with, 2.) This video is totally random and funny, 3.) I had so much fun editing this, 4.) The freshies who watched this video enjoyed it.

Producing this event's video made me realised that I love filming, video editing and music editing. That's why of all videos I've made, this is my proudest work.
SIM - RMIT Orientation 2010 Hype Video
Video played when the freshies came for the orientation to hype them up. We couldn't spare the people to act so using xtranormal state animation was a last resort. There's another promo video within this video that introduce the theme and location of the 2d1n campsite we were going to, so actually this is 2 videos.

And yes, I realised I forgot to edit the pictures of the host and the event logo only when this video was shown on the big screen. It didn't look that bad on my laptop as the screen was much smaller, but when shown on the big screen, it looks low budgeted. Other than that, everyone liked this.
Recruitment Week Jan 2011
Video inspired by "Old Spice" commercial. Since during that period Old Spice was going viral among the students, we decided to make a parody of it. But as we don't have enough man power of budget to do a uncut scene, improv had to be made.

There's something weird about Adobe Premiere Pro's noise cancelling and tone mixing function though, I remember having a hard time adjusting the sound and tone.
Recruitment Week July 2011
A very last minute produced video, I had to think of a theme and look for photos everywhere and anywhere. Luckily, the rock music saved it, even though this video wasn't THAT great. Could have done better if I had more time, of course.

SIM - RMIT Bash 2010 Opening Video
One thing producing this video taught me was always start as early as possible. If I'm not wrong, I only started 1 or 2 weeks before the event, and I was in the sales team of Bash, too.

Secondly, I was supposed to film the backstage vignettes and edit them into this video before the event officially started. But there was a miscomm and I didn't get to use a proper camera. Luckily, there was my 8 megapixel camera phone and I used it to film and edit. But as it wasn't a fantastic video recording camera phone, I had to edit it so I could have the "Home video" look. Close enough, I guess.

*Note: Youtube is delaying the audio by 1/2 a second. I have no idea why. All the effects are not in-sync with the beats to the song. Will find a way to correct it.
SIM - RMIT Bash 2011 Opening Video

After last year's experience, I got a better idea what I wanted this time. There was supposed to be some extra effects applied to this video to create "flashy-ness", my beloved laptop would keep crashing on me when I render it out, and even corrupt my project file.

If I didn't remember wrongly, this was my 4th or 5th attempt redoing the opening video, and while the "flashy-ness" wasn't there, I think the timing and my recut of music made it feel awesome to watch on the big screen.

Unused Promo Video before Walk 1

This was supposed to be played just before the contestants came down for their first walk in the evening, which is beach wear, we didn't consider putting the contestants in order for the videos, so I made used with what I think was perfect for the music, and to introduce/promo Wavehouse at the same time.

We ended up using a video made by the photographer of that shoot because we realised that the audience don't know what was the contestants' number, and the photographer's video did do that. It was also too late for me to re-edit the video since the event was only a few days later, and I was doing other videos for the Bash too.

With that said, I'm very satisfied with this promo.

Promo video before Walk 2

Video shown before the contestants came for their second walk of the night. I only have limited amount of pictures to make do with, so honestly it was pretty hard to do. But I would like to think that I succeeded in using limited resources and time to come up with this one.
