This project originated from an idea of designing a seat that appeared unstable and chaotic. I wanted to balance coarse geometric shapes and simple forms of construction with subtle curves and refined finishes.
It is 30" in height. The bottom of the seat is constructed from hot-rolled, mild steel. It was painted black and scuffed to highlight coarse grind marks and mill scale. The top of the seat is polished stainless steel. The stool is titled S01. It will be auctioned at the CRUSH Auction at the Tucson Museum of Art on March 5th.
