fascinators/hats came about quite by chance. I initially made one for sheer fun and wore it to a
festival. The response was so good
I decided to take them further. I gave myself quite a loose brief when creating
them, as I wanted the creative process to be as instinctive as possible. The main rule was that they had to be
made out of the rubbish already in my studio. I didn’t want to outsource anything and it was also
important that they were completely handmade. This is when I feel closest to my true creativity.
I wanted to
keep the handmade aesthetic evident, to make the process into a design feature,
however I was careful to avoid the ‘arts and craft’ look. The cross over between art and design with
a DIY/Punk aesthetic is evident and reflects my practice as a whole.
I take commissions for hats and/or fascinators.
