rondocubic chair 01
My first intention was to interpret rondocubism in junction with modernistic aesthetics. Heavy elements of rondocubism together with light elements of modernism, to create a chair with respects to history and with unworldliness of future.
Interesting results can come from joining the past and the future in “retrofuturism”. Correctly chosen and intepreted elements can generate a certain tension, which is refreshing and in result, creating object paradoxically not burdened by time. Inspired by the past, looking into the future, rises an object that has no limits of history.
During designing RC01 another problem had occured. Occupying of the seating part. This could be resolved in following aesthetics - to strictly abide rondocubism of the whole corpus and create a homogenous system. This solution was discarded because of a simple reason - to adhere to modernistic rondocubism even in this part of the system would mean a lost of the mentioned “unworldliness”. In other words, to keep the already overexposed lingua of the corpus would mean to misunderstand my own jest.
Therefore, I created an element, which is not rondocubistic but rather sculptural, more “relaxed” than the other parts of the compostition. Roundness is reflected only in chromium tubes, which are embedded into the sculptural seating element.
Is this object too much effort? Afrer all, it is just an chair, right? Well, that‘s the rich part, it is overexposed ingenuity serving your butt - if you dare to sit on it.
In one sentence, it is an aesthetical whimsey, with regards to the existence of a man.
