Rob Machado Collage

  • Personal collage of one of my favorite soul surfers.  The original Rob Machado portrait was taken by Steven Lippman, and is shown below.  I made it a duotone image and added sunscreen on his face in Photoshop.  These are the only two changes that were made to the portrait.  Other photos are film stills from the Rob Machado and Taylor Steele film Melali "The Drifter Sessions", and my personal photographs from Maui (driftwood, grass, and some of the water shots).  The velvet paper prints were torn at randon and placed afterwards until I liked the overall flow.  The spray coming off the lip was not adjusted, it just happened to fit Rob's goatee perfectly.  I'm not affiliated with Rob Machado and Taylor Steele or their amazing film Melali, but would love to work with them on future ventures.  Please check out the film, and visit them on their sites.

  • This is the original Reef ad that I found Rob's photo from.  The awesome portrait is Steven Lippman's, that is part of a series that he shot for Reef's ICONS of ALOHA campaign.  I'm not affiliated with Reef or Steven Lippman, just an admirer of both.  Please visit them on their sites.
