As part of my Branding class, I was asked to rebrand a celebrity of my choosing: Rihanna. Part of what makes Rihanna such an exciting personality is that she is a pop star with the edge of a rock star. She can grace any red carpet in a beautiful floral gown, then go out partying after a raunchy concert set--all in the same night. She has the perfect balance of gloss and grit, "good girl" and "bad girl."
Using the rose--whose petals contain both elegant curves and jagged points--as an inspiration, I have created a symbol that perfectly represents Rihanna's pop star/rock star dichotomy. To further convey this message, I applied the logo to items she would use to prepare for the red carpet (compact mirror, lipstick, nail polish), as well as items she might use to prepare for a night on the town (shot glasses, lighters).
