I think that the maps we use daily – although convenient for navigation – are often impersonal and soulless. But if treated with a little bit more creativity and attention a map can become so much more – almost a storyboard of your life, where certain streets or crossroads immediately evoke memories. So I took the basic grey schematic grid and tried to convert it into a custom-made one-of-a-kind recollection of personal visions and impressions.

While working on this piece, I tried to remember all of those favorite, most special spots, feelings, thoughts and memories that I personally associate with Riga. Intentionally keeping myself away from “official” maps and stale guidebooks, I wanted to make a visualization of my own Riga how it exists in my mind – a charming and cozy city full of things to see and experience.
