REZONING UNION SQUARE was my senior project for Urban Studio class at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. The parameters of our assignment were to create something that would be interactive to the viewer in or around Union Square. Almost immediately my mind went to the abundance of signage that restricts what you do and where you move, not only in Union Square but in New York City in general. I wanted to create areas within Union Square that could give the viewer permission to feel more free in their surroundings and license them to 'play' in that enviornment.
